A federal judge on Friday gave last approval to BP PLC's settlement with businesses and people who lost cash because of the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. BP has estimated it will pay $ 7. 8 billion to deal with more than 100,000 claims by businesses and individuals from the nation 's worst overseas oil spill. The settlement has no cap; the business might end up paying more or less. UNITED STATE District Judge Carl Barbier accepted the settlement in a 125-page ruling provided Friday night. "None of the objections, whether filed on the objections docket or elsewhere, have shown the Settlement to be anything other than fair, reasonable, and adequate," he wrote. BP said it was pleased with the settlement, which got Barbier's preliminary approval in May.

Key:

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
