If you're headed to the grocery store in the coming days to buy a Thanksgiving turkey do not be amazed to see a larger phone number on the price than in previous years. A new study by the American Farm Bureau Federation has disclosed that the price of turkey is up 3-percent from a year ago. The expense of turkey will have a modest impact on the general expense of Thanksgiving dinner, with the average 10-serving dish costing $ 49.85.
Experts state the enhanced price of turkey has nothing to do with a shortage since turkey supplies in cold storage are up 5 to 6-percent this year. They state the enhanced price is likely due to competing meats selling at a greater price, which has enhanced demand for turkey. The American Farm Bureau came to these conclusions by surveying volunteer shoppers from around the nation.
