A raving eight-alarm fire at a southeastern Wisconsin food processing plant that drew even more than 80 fire departments was primarily included Thursday afternoon, officials stated. The fire that had ruined the family-owned Echo Lake Foods plant in Burlington, Wis. , since about 6:05 p.m. Wednesday was out other than for a couple of hot spots, Burlington Mayor Robert Miller stated Thursday. Miller stated the plant had been left securely and there were no injuries to either workers or firefighters. Police left 10 homes in the area and one apartment building, Miller stated. More than 80 fire departments from a number of counties in Wisconsin replied to the scene, taking turns to manage the blaze. The Racine Hazardous Materials Unit was likewise on the scene monitoring air quality because the plant included ammonia and liquid oxygen tanks, Burlington City Administrator Kevin Lahner stated.
