A couple of days ago I inspected the long-range designs, which were starting to include forecasts for late December in their outputs. In most designs, Christmas looked cold in Houston. But since designs in the 10 - to 16-day variety are, shall we state, less than reputable I did not place too much stock in the forecast. However, the cold trend in the forecast has continued and so possibly there's cause to have some self-confidence in a forecast 12 days thus. Maybe. Christmas morning temperature forecast from the GFS design. (IPS MeteoStar). So I asked Fred Schmude, of ImpactWeather, for his thoughts on Christmas in Houston. He concurred that it's most likely not going to be shorts weather this year. Here 's his outlook:.
