NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The U.S. government temporarily banned oil giant BP from bidding on any new federal contracts as a result of its recent criminal pleas stemming from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The move prevents BP (BCONQ) from getting new federal government "contracts, grants or other covered transactions," according to the Environmental Protection Agency, which was charged with issuing the ban. Among BP's contracts with the federal government are billion dollar agreements to supply it with fuel. Wednesday's move does not impact existing agreements. "EPA is taking this action due to BP's lack of business integrity as demonstrated by the company's conduct with regard to the Deepwater Horizon blowout," the EPA said in a statement.
