Big stores opening even earlier on Thanksgiving | Redux

Big stores opening even earlier on Thanksgiving

Excerpt:

It used to be simply called Thanksgiving. Now the day is progressively called Black Friday Eve or Black Thursday, as retailers double down on very early opening hours for the kickoff of the holiday shopping season. This Thanksgiving, some retailers, including the world 's largest , are opening earlier than ever before , before the dishes are even cleared from the table. "This is actually something we've seen really take off with consumers in recent years," stated Kathy Grannis, spokeswoman at the National Retail Federation. Last year, 24 percent of shoppers stated they were at a shop at midnight on Black Friday. Simply two years earlier , Grannis stated , that number was only 9 percent. Wal-Mart will begin the very first of three Black Friday sales at 8 p. m. on Thanksgiving night , followed by 10 p. m. and 5 a. m.

Key:

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
